Vincy/Bajan charged for counterfeit notes
While the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), has issued a warning to the OECS countries about the circulation of the EC $100 notes by unidentified individuals, others are using the opportunity to bring in counterfeit monies from countries outside of the OECS.
Rennie Alexander from St. Vincent and Albert Dalzell, a Vincentian residing in Barbados are two such suspects. {{more}} They will have to return to the Serious Offences court on July 15, 2005 to answer 4 charges against them, one of which is having in their possession a quantity of counterfeit Barbados $20 and $50 notes.
Alexander and Dalzell were both charged on June 21, for the offences. Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman, while presiding over the case at the Calliaqua Magistrateâs Court on Monday, June 27 accepted a cash bail of $10,000 for Dalzell who was represented by Samantha Robertson.
Dalzell is expected to return to Barbados early next month and according to the Chief Magistrate it is the only surety.
Both accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
