Man on gun charge

Police have arrested and charged an elderly man with firearm and ammunition offences.
Sixty-three year-old Clive Lewis, a truck driver of Calder, was last weekend charged with possessing a .25 automatic pistol and two rounds of .25 ammunition without licences.{{more}}
According to reports, police officers, acting on information received, proceeded to Little Tokyo where they met Lewis. Lewis was allegedly found in possession of the firearm which had two bullets.
Lewis was taken before Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman at the Serious Offences Court on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail of $4,000 with one surety.
Lewis is scheduled to reappear before the court on June 8 when it is expected his trial will begin.
