Kevin Daniel, proud to be part of the Penny Bank Team
Since he was a boy, Kevin Daniel always wanted to be a banker; so when he was offered a job at the St Vincent Co-operative Bank Limited/Penny Bank, straight out of school, he was ecstatic.
St Vincent Co-operative Bank Limited/Penny Bank is currently celebrating 80 years of operations in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), and Daniel is proud to be part of the team.
Daniel, the bank’s recoveries officer, has witnessed first hand the transformation of the institution. Joining as a Customer Service Representative in 2013, he moved into his current position in 2018.
Daniel, a Layou resident and a graduate of St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, told SEARCHLIGHT that he has always been passionate about banking, and he is proud to part of such a forward-thinking team of professionals.
“It’s not just a job, it’s a learning experience that helps you grow personally and professionally. Our institution prioritizes staff development, offering training and certifications that enhance both the bank and its employees.
“For eight decades the bank has remained committed to the financial well-being of our customers. We are very community driven with a focus on fostering relationships that build trust. When customers bank with us, they aren’t seen as just another account number, but instead you are part of a family that encourages growth. We offer competitive rates, flexible terms and exceptional customer service,” Daniel commented.
He said over the past eight decades, the bank has grown tremendously, evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers, while maintaining a strong commitment to service and innovation.
“The structure of the building has changed, providing more space, and we’ve embraced a younger workforce. Marketing has become a significant focus, and the introduction of out ATM service led to an increase in our customer base using that service more, sees on some days, less traffic inside the bank itself.”
Daniel also emphasized the bank’s unparalleled customer service.
“By far, our customer experience is better than any other institution. Everyone is greeted warmly and treated with hospitality, making banking a welcoming experience.”
With his job as recoveries officer, Daniel has interacted a lot with customers from all walks of life, and it has given him the opportunity to grow as a person.
“I have gotten better with customers. You hear a lot of stories and build relationships, and you have to have empathy in some situations,” Daniel noted, while adding that to reach 80 years in service, “…is definitely a milestone being one of the oldest institutions in the country.”
In encouraging persons to bank with the Penny Bank, Daniel said “By far the customer service experience is a lot better than any other institution. Everyone is greeted with warmth and hospitality.”
Daniel is Chairman for the 80th Anniversary Committee. The anniversary celebrations included a church service held on Sunday, February, 2, at the Kingstown Baptist Church, followed by a luncheon at Young Island. A range of other activities are in the works.
