‘Daystar’ – a poem by Leron France

by Leron France

Second place winner in the 2021 Ellsworth “Shake” Keane / UWI Open Campus Poetry Competition

DAYSTAR

God’s creativity never ceases to amaze,

For today I saw a star walking:

Whose radiance set my heart ablaze,

Leaving me in a state of rejoicing.

Celestial elegance:

Commanding distant admiration.

Heavenly fragrance:

Inducing intense meditation.

Intriguing beauty,

Captivating the soul.

Divine entreaty,

Worth more than all the world’s gold

Words absconding,

Heart resounding:

Cells in a state of exuberance,

At the moment of your appearance.

Today, I saw a star walk by,

She looked at me and then said “Hi..”

From the heart I now compose

Orchestral melodies of sweet repose.
