Nanny bears five healthy kids

A Lowmans Hill woman may hold the local record for the largest litter of goats ever born in one birthing.

On Thursday, January 18, around 8 p.m., a doe owned by Yvette Roberts gave birth to five healthy kids.

The Guinness Book of Records states that the record for the largest litter of goats is held by a doe called ‘Lucy,’ owned by Melanie Hall of Julian, Pennsylvania, USA. Lucy had a litter of six pygmy goats, on March 12, 2006, five of which survived.

Roberts told SEARCHIGHT that this is the third litter that her goat has produced; the first litter gave her two kids and the second one gave her three.

She said that this is the most kiddies she has ever heard being born in one instance.

“Nobody say they have so much kiddies. I know about two or three,” Roberts told SEARCHLIGHT, adding that persons are already showing interest in purchasing the animals.

“This is a blessing,” said Roberts, with a smile.(LC)
