‘Bail me please,’ man begs arresting officer
An Edinboro man who was charged with assault against his girlfriend last Friday asked his arresting officer to make bail for him after he could not find anyone to do so.
Sean Thomas, a 33-year-old from Edinboro pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault against his girlfriend which is alleged to have occurred last Wednesday.
The prosecutor in the case did not object to bail but asked that a no contact order be made against Thomas with regard to his girlfriend, with whom he has a child.
Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias granted bail in the sum of $2,500 with one surety and placed a no contact order against him.
Thomas then explained to the Chief Magistrate that he had no family to bail him and that his parents are dead.
He then asked his arresting officer to bail him. The arresting officer said she would try to assist him by finding someone to bail him.
This prompted Browne-Matthias to reproach Thomas by saying âYou know your situation ainât too pram pramâ(referring to the fact that he had no family) and that he knew that he had somebody, a girlfriend and a child, but because of his actions, his girlfriend had to bring a case against him in court.
âWhat does really fly up in allyuh head,â she inquired, saying he didnât even have teeth (the front teeth of his top jaw were missing).
The matter was transferred from the Serious Offences Court to the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court.(KR)
