Vincentian police officer graduates University College of Commonwealth Caribbean

Members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) continue to embrace opportunities to improve their academic status in various areas.

Corporal of Police Omaro Thomas, attached to the RSVGPF band, is our most recent officer to have graduated from the University College of the Commonwealth Caribbean, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management.

The ceremony, held in Jamaica at the National Arena Sporting Complex on July 23, 2017, saw some 713 students from across the Caribbean graduating in different disciplines at different levels.

Cpl Thomas represented the first batch of students who were recruited by the university from this country and was the first to attend a commencement ceremony in Jamaica, where the national flag of SVG was flown in his honour. He serenaded the audience with two musical renditions on the alto saxophone, which was both well received and touching, as some members of the audience were seen in tears.

“I am extremely proud of my accomplishment amidst several challenges. I have done something that my future self would thank me for. I have gained a wealth of knowledge in management theories, policies, principles and best practices etc. I hope to use the knowledge gained to enhance the organization, as well as to motivate persons whom I may come into contact with,” said Cpl Thomas.

He added: “I thank God for keeping me every step of the way; without him none of this would have been possible. Special thanks also to my family, friends and co-workers, who supported and encouraged me in one way or the other. I am eternally grateful.”

The RSVGPF congratulates Cpl Omaro Thomas and wishes him continued success as he continues to strive for excellence.(Police Public Relations)
