GT Caribbean Network offers platform for worldwide recognition
GT Caribbean Network provides a platform for young individuals to expose themselves to the Caribbean and the world.
Andrew Joseph, marketing manager of the cable and online television network, says these opportunities are available to Vincentians.
In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT last Friday, Joseph said at present, one of the biggest shows on the network is âLife in Vincy,â which is hosted by Vincentian Vashel Glasgow.
He stated that shows in St Lucia, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guadeloupe and Barbados are featured on the network, which was launched on January 21, 2017.
Joseph told SEARCLIGHT that the procedure for pitching an idea to them about a show is simple.
âIf you have an idea, just come with it; we have writers, producers, and camera menâ¦certain things have to happen to get your idea from where it is to where you want it to be or where it could be marketable,â he explained.
Joseph disclosed that Glasgow was discovered from her YouTube channel, where she vlogs about hair and make-up. She was approached to share what life is like in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He explained that in order to make their hostsâ shows profitable, they will assist with finding sponsors, adding that hosts may also find sponsors themselves.
âYour show will be your brand; you have an opportunity to pay yourself through sponsors and also to take your brand to the next level. Because as GT grows, you grow,â Joseph said.
He added that because the showâs hosts are brands, they can take their sponsors with them wherever they go. âThey could pay you to do certain things. That could open up doors for modelling contracts, advertisement, films⦠product placements.â
Ancil Harris, CEO of Ville Ventures, the production team which works alongside GT Caribbean Network, film director, programme director and graphic designer at the GT Caribbean Network, told SEARCLIGHT that it was because of the content that was put out by Glasgow which made them want to visit St Vincent.
He noted that most of the networkâs employees are freelance, because they want to give them opportunities to be entrepreneurs and build their own brand.
Harris said in the month of August there will be highlights of Vincy Mas on the GT Caribbean Network, including interviews with Gamal âSkinny Fabulousâ Doyle, other soca artistes and a local designer.
GT Caribbean Network is broadcast on Synergy TV every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
