Young make-up artiste turns passion into business

Shenice Williams has always had a passion for make-up and after being on the job hunt without success, she decided to turn her passion into a business.

Williams, who has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, on Sunday at the Signature Bar and Lounge launched her business Exotic Beats, and herself as a make-up artiste.

She told SEARCHLIGHT that she has had a love for makeup since secondary school.

“I always loved make-up. I went away to study and after that I came home…on the job hunt, I didn’t get a job, but I wanted to start up my own make-up artistry business,” the entrepreneur said.

Williams said she has been developing the idea for her business since November 2016 and is looking to bring something new to the make-up artistry scene in St Vincent.

“I don’t ever want to be just plain, so that’s another reason for the name as well. Be exotic, be different, be bold, and be wild, which are words I would use to describe myself,” she said.

Williams stated that her love and passion for makeup will be one of the things that sets her apart from her competitors.

The 23-year-old also said that she conducts research on her clients and gets as much information as possible on them before applying the first coat of makeup.

“The main thing that I’m trying to do with my brand is make sure that people are pleased with the service that they are getting.”

Williams is also hoping to expand her brand.

“I want to get my name out there… I want to be a global makeup artiste.”

She is a self-taught make-up artiste but plans to enroll in a cosmetology school to further her skill set.
