Search for missing persons suspended
The search for six Vincentians who went missing at sea on June 4 was suspended yesterday, Monday.
Coast Guard officers and others searched for over one week and came up empty, after the speed boat in which the six were travellling ran into trouble close to 5 p.m. while travelling from Canouan to Mustique on Sunday June 4.
Onboard the vessel called Midnight Shadow were Montgomery Hazel of Chauncey / Bequia (Captain); Claudia Williams; Lambert âNedâ Dasouza and Charmaine Dasouza of Byera, Sharon Simmons of Richland Park and Josianne John of Murrayâs Village.
The Coast Guard said they were first notified about the missing vessel on Sunday afternoon by the security at Mustique Company Limited, however, the location of the vessel was unknown.
The Coast Guard activated its search and rescue plans and since then, a wide area between Mustique and Canouan has been searched using boats and aircraft.
