Are you living your professional dream?

A: Yes, I am living my professional dream. Electronics has been my thing since in school. This is no accident. I remember hooking up the PA system at Prep School at age 10.

What do you do to relax?{{more}}

A: I took up music as something to relax after a hard day’s work, that’s how the band Touch came about. After a hard day’s work you go and play some music or on weekends. Now my responsibility has grown so basically work takes up more time.

Q: How do you spend your weekends?

A: I normally work 13-14 hours a day for five days a week. On weekends its boils down to the same thing. But I do take pride in going to church every Sunday morning to do the broadcast for the Methodist church service, not that I have to do it as I can send a member of staff to do the a broadcast, but I take pride in doing that religious broadcast, that basically starts my Sunday, then I spend a lot of time with the family. Sometimes I take the kids to the beach on a Saturday morning before work.

Q; Where would you be on a Saturday night?

A: It varies what I do. My staff work very hard so on weekends I spend a lot of time hanging with the staff. On weekends I feel obligated to the staff for pushing the extra bit to get the job finished, so I spend a lot of time with them, even on a Friday night.

Q; What challenges you the most in life?

A: I always wanted to be ahead in technology and electronics from ever since. I always had this knack of innovation even in the band (Touch) where technology would not necessarily replace jobs but make things more accurate and cut cost. I pretty much upgrade my knowledge every year, so keeping ahead in that field is always my challenge.

Q; What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

A: The result… getting things to work reliably. I don’t believe in dropping back. I get a high from seeing things work.

Q; Where do you get the inspiration to go on?

A: I am self-motivated, I am pretty ambitious, I always liked to have some of the finest things in life. Once you have a mortgage to pay you are driven, you can’t sit back, because you have commitments. So basically my self-motivation comes from ambition.

Q:Who has had the most positive influence on your life?

My parents have had the most positive influence on my life. Parents generally would expect the best of you and nothing less.

Q; If you were given the power to change one thing in the country or the world, what would it be?

A: I think the way we look at politics. We are too partisan, I think that every individual has the right to vote for who he or she feels to vote for and I think we need to respect that. Whatever party governs the country everyone should fall in line.

Q; Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

A: Getting involved in at least one of two other businesses, generally to help create employment. You take your knowledge with you when you are leaving, I believe in sharing and helping others help themselves.
