Are they in your life for a season, reason or a lifetime?

People come into our lives each day. If you are fortunate enough to live to your golden years, when you reflect on your life, you would realize that your numerous interactions with various persons would have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on your life.

It is said that people come and people go; but the right ones always stay. It is therefore important for us to differentiate between those coming or going and, even more importantly, we must take the time to figure out who fits in the category of for a season, reason, or a lifetime.

The difference here will certainly save us some unnecessary heartache of holding on to someone that we should let go.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty; to provide you with guidance and support; to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die.

Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Then there are those persons who come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it. It is real. But only for a season…and guess what the seasons do change.

The other type of relationships or persons in our lives as those we call LIFETIME relationships or LIFETIME persons. These persons teach us lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

My encouragement to everyone will be to seek to know the purpose for which you met the various persons in your life thus far. The persons in our lives are either a blessing, or to teach us a lesson. Some persons will even enter your life to encourage or build you into the person you intended to be. I do not believe in chance encounters or that meetings are ever by accident.

A person may come into your life to ensure you’re able to add purpose and structure to everything you do. Another might enter your life to ensure that you have the strength to carry on.

Life is basically a kaleidoscope of experiences and people, there is a role for every person we meet. Some will test you. Some will use you. Some will love you and some will teach you. But the ones who are truly important are the ones who will bring out the best in you. They are the rare and amazing people who remind why friendships are worth the effort.
