Three must-haves to stand-out online
Think about this, if your brand doesn’t show up online, does it really exist?
Whether you’re a content creator or a business owner trying to attract new customers or building your personal brand, digital branding is the heartbeat of how your audience experiences and connects with you online. It is non-negotiable.
Don’t be confused. There is a difference between digital marketing and digital branding. Digital marketing refers to the promotion of your brand online through ads and targeted marketing efforts. Conversely, digital branding is the way your brand presents itself to your audience and includes your online image, your content, your vibe, voice, tone, and customer perception. It’s that feeling that people get when they see your Instagram page or scroll through your website or open your emails. It’s not just about looking good online but also being memorable and consistent in the digital space. You should have a digital branding plan before you even begin digital marketing efforts since it’s critical to develop a sense of cohesiveness across your brand’s online content.
Here are three must-haves to make your brand stand out online
A recognizable brand identity-
Sometimes brandstake this for granted both online and offline. You are familiar with Canva, right? The design platform with fun templates and vibrant colours? That’s an example of good branding. From their clean, playful design to their signature purple-blue palette, they look consistent across all channels, and you can spot their content from a mile away.
Build a strong visual identity by:
Choosing a colour scheme that fits the personality of your brand. Is your brand innovative? Is it bold and bright? Is it soft and minimalist?
Use the same fonts, filters and logo across platforms.
Keep your design style consistent but never boring.
A relatable brand voice-
People connect with stories and personalities. Your brand voice is the way you talk to your audience. Are you fun and quirky? Are you chill and friendly? The voice should sound like a real person, not a corporate robot. Canva for example uses warm, empowering language to encourage creativity. In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, your brand can tap into dialect and culture to keep things authentic. In Jamaica, many brands do the latter. Be human and use language that your audience understands.
Consistent, valuable content-
Content is how you show up and stay top of mind. It’s your digital handshake and personality all in one. As an individual, how you show up allows people to form an impression of you and so the same thing applies to your brand.
Consider this:
Create different types of content e.g. tutorials, behind the scenes, tips and storytelling.
Show up regularly. Keep it helpful, not just hype.
Don’t always sell, sometimes you just need to connect.
Remember digital branding is not just for big brands, it’s for anyone who wants to stand out, build trust and make an impact online.
