Embrace these two Marketing trends now!

If you work in Marketing and have your finger on the pulse of what’s happening, you will realize that Marketing trends are continuously changing and evolving. Keeping up can be a challenge especially when it comes to new technologies. What techniques will be most effective in the coming months and years? Here are two trends to keep your eye on:

Experiential Marketing
As the name suggests, this type of marketing is focussed on the experience you create for the customer. Think of the last time you may have gone into a business and there was music, maybe giveaways or competitions, demos etc, that’s an example of Experiential Marketing. Other examples include corporate events, webinars, and family fun days. Tech giant, Apple, is known for these types of experiences through their “photo-walks” in which an Apple employee guides consumers around a neighbourhood and teaches them how to take photos with their iPhone. Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference, which brings thousands of programmers from across the globe to discuss the latest trends, also springs to mind. What type of event/experience can you create in your business/organization that can engage your customers?

Why is it effective?
Giving customers the opportunity to interact and engage with the brand via an experience is powerful. According to salesforce.com, 84% of consumers in the US prefer to be treated as a person and not a number, therefore by creating memories, your brand can strengthen its connection with customers which by extension increases brand buy-in.

Digital Transformation
Thanks to the pandemic, more brands embraced digital transformation. However, as we got back to normal, some business/brands have either seen a reduction in online engagement or have somewhat neglected the online space. However, to maintain a sense of relevance, its vital to stay ahead of the game. In marketing, digital transformation means changing your marketing mix to more digital channels, moving away from print advertising to social media, for example. Continued digital transformation refers to leveraging new technology to optimize your marketing efforts and improve customer experience. However, marketing doesn’t function in isolation, therefore, digital transformation requires integrating digital technology into all areas of the business and fundamentally changing how your brand/business operates and deliver value to customers.
Marketers should either be driving digital transformation or be involved in making it happen. Why? Think about this; along with your customer service team, who better understands the customer journey in your business?
