Your mindset affects the success the business/brand/organization!
A COMBINATION OF factors including great marketing and customer service, affect the success of your business/organization/ brand. However, one factor that is usually underestimated is that of one’s mindset. Particularly at this time, when one can’t help but notice the rising cost of certain necessities and how this affects the buying decisions of one’s customers, your mindset matters!
I saw a powerful quote recently that said “The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways “(Robert Greene, Master); this refers to the need for more people to have a growth mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset. Did you realize that one’s managerial mindset has an effect on marketing decisions? Is there a marketing mindset within your business which entails putting oneself in the customers’ shoes and trying to think like a customer?
The way you think on a daily basis has a profound influence on the results that your business generates. Your mindset determines how you get things done and if you are willing to do what it takes to make your customers happy, to have a motivated team or to even make more money; e.g., if you have a fixed mindset then you won’t be willing to learn additional skills to take yourself to the next level so as a consequence you may miss out on upgrading your social media marketing skills which are key to building your brand’s digital presence. Here are a few ways in which you can leverage a positive business mindset:
Think positively – In the words of Mahatma Ghandi “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.” The thoughts running through your mind have a significant impact on the state of your mental and physical health which by extension affects your work life. Be mindful that your team’s mental health also affects their output.
Think about your triggers; when sales are slow or you feel you can’t juggle everything that’s needed daily to efficiently run the business, how do you deal with that? What do you have in place to motivate your sales team?
Increase Productivity – Are you starting your day with set goals? Be clear in your mind about what you want your business to achieve in the next quarter for example. Once you are clear on your priorities and you’re realistic about what you can take on, you will find things going much smoother. For example, you are renovating or upgrading your business space, are you trying to coordinate all of this on your own? You are trying to get your products into certain supermarkets or stores whilst handling other aspects of the business, is someone assisting you or are you trying to handle everything on your own?
Embrace Change – In order to move your business/organization forward, you need to be willing to embrace change- it’s inevitable. The way things were done five years ago is not necessarily the way things should be done now and if you don’t embrace that change, not only will the business suffer but you will frustrate yourself and your team doing things that do not give you the desired results. Again, I reference the growth mindset versus the fixed mindset e.g., as you carry out your day-to day tasks, how you think about the capabilities of new, transformative technologies can be one of the keys to the success of your business/organization in the future.
