Man killed in Layou mountains
Police officers have updated information on what was believed to be a double homicide in the Layou mountains.
Information reaching SEARCHLIGHT from police sources had indicated that two men had been killed, however, only one man was killed.
The deceased, a farmer by trade, was killed sometime around 5 pm on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Information as to the cause of death has not yet been provided.
This death brings the homicide total in St Vincent and the Grenadines to 50 for 2023.
In the last few weeks there has been increased gun violence in the Central Leeward community resulting in the deaths of: Leon “Zacchaeus” Gaymes of Texier Road who was shot and killed on November 18; Tambu Patrick, shot and killed on Sunday, November 5 and Delarno Kyle Corney Patrick, shot and killed on Sunday, October 15.
The killing comes one day before a peace rally, organized by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, was scheduled to take place in the Layou community.
