Caring for the skin

Treating oily skin is a matter of trying to reduce oil production and keeping the pores clean to prevent stretching and oxidation. Instead of harsh cleansers and scrubs, use light foaming cleansers which have enough power to break through the oil and grime on the skin without irritation.{{more}} Some people with oily skin feel they don’t need moisturizer, but that is not true. You could still be lacking in water and by replenishing this you will make the skin look plumper and healthier. Moisturizers with ingredients such as witch hazel, salicylic acid and talc are good to soak up sebum (oil) on the skin surface and can keep you shine free for up to eight hours. Look for products that claim to be “mactifying” or “shine controller”.

TIPS FOR OILY SKIN

– Only cleanse twice a day. More often can trigger a panic response and the body would feel it has to produce more oil.

– Ensure all your products, even your make-up is oil free.

– Cut down on fast food.
