SVG hosts its first International Netball Series

The Arnos Vale Netball Complex, from this Saturday, June 15 to next Friday, June 21, will be the venue for the hosting of the inaugural Eastern Caribbean Central Bank / Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States International Netball Series.

Five teams from the sub-region – Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines, will be vyeing for the Gloria Ballantyne trophy, the symbol of supremacy for the series.

More importantly, the teams will be seeking valuable ranking points, as the series has been recognised by the International Netball Federation (INF).

The five teams will play each other twice, as they meet the requirement of eight international matches, in order to gain ranking points.

The series gets going on Saturday in earnest, with St Vincent and the Grenadines meeting Dominica from 530 p.m., then Grenada face St Lucia from 7 p.m.

Sunday’s matches feature Antigua and Barbuda versus Grenada from 5 30 p.m., to be followed by St Vincent and the Grenadines against St Lucia from 7 p.m.

On Monday, three matches are carded – Dominica face Grenada from 6 a.m., Antigua and Barbuda take on Dominica from 6 p.m. and St Vincent and the Grenadines take on Grenada from 7 30 p.m.

Tuesday’s matches feature Antigua and Barbuda versus St Lucia from 6 a.m., with St Lucia meeting Dominica from 6 p.m. and St Vincent and the Grenadines against Antigua and Barbuda from 7 30 p.m.

The teams will begin the second round from Wednesday.

St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented by a 12-member team of players, along with three officials.

Taking on the responsibility of captain is Mary Ann Frederick, with her deputy being Shannique De Shong. Also selected are Shellisa Davis, Joseann Antoine, Kemeisha Antoine, Zipporah Millington, Nerissa Delepesche, Jo Maria Quashie, Kaywanna Charles, Shanice Daniel, Suzette Jorndan-Edwards and Mia Durrant.
