Barrouallie retains females’ XC title… Grammar School wins males
The Barrouallie Secondary School, with another dominating display, retained the schools’ cross country title, last Thursday at the decommissioned ET Joshua Airport.
Led by a winning run by Zita Vincent, as she clocked 19 minutes 28.45 seconds, Barrouallie Secondary’s overall time was 1 hour 20 minutes 58.38 seconds.
Apart from Vincent’s top placing, Ashanti Richards was second, Chaunte Williams was fourth and Marle Richards was sixth, as Barroaullie Secondary bossed most of the top places.
Second to Barrouallie Secondary was St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, with a combined time of 1 hour 28 minutes 43 .23 seconds, and in third place was Troumaca Secondary, in a time of 1 hour 29 minutes 05.40 seconds.
The other competing schools were Intermediate High, Bethel High, Thomas Saunders, Buccament, Petit Bordel and Bishop’s College, Kingstown. The females ran 4km.
Taking the male bracket was the St Vincent Grammar School, which finished with an overall clocking of 1 hour 41 37.93 seconds.
Grammar School’s best placing was third, as Nellie Ambriton’s 24 minutes 48.86 seconds, placed him third behind Tajere Thomas and Ziel Spring of Bethel High and Petit Bordel Secondary, respectively.
Thomas’ winning time was 24 minutes 15.23 seconds, as Bethel High finished second overall, compiling a time of 1 hour 43 minutes 42.75 seconds, and Petit Bordel Secondary was third in 1 hour 44 minutes 13.10 seconds.
Barrouallie Secondary, Buccament Secondary, St Martin’s Secondary (the 2018 champions), Georgetown Secondary, Troumaca Ontario, Intermediate High, Bishop’s College, Kingstown and Thomas Saunders Secondary, competed at the championships, which finished in that order.
The males ran 6km.
