SVGSA to stage three major championships in 2019

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association (SVGSA) will in 2019, host three major squash championships.

The first event of the trio is set for February 22 – 24, which is the St Vincent and the Grenadines junior open.

Scheduled for April 12 to 14, is the OECS championships, and from June 6 to 9, is the senior OECS championships.

All three championships will take place at the National Squash Centre, Paul’s Avenue.

Newly elected president of the SVGSA – Kevin Hannaway disclosed that special emphasis will be placed on the St Vincent and the Grenadines junior open.

“We did not host it last year, so we would be making an extra effort to get some overseas participation,” Hannaway indicated.

As precursor to the OECS championships, the SVGSA will hold local competitions as well.

Set for March 15 and 16, is the national junior championships, with the senior championships slated for May 7 to 10.

Meanwhile, players from St Vincent and the Grenadines are expected to fill most of the places on the OECS team for the Junior CASA (Caribbean Area Squash Association) championships, July 14 to 19 in Trinidad and Tobago, and Senior CASA, August 19-23 in Georgetown, Guyana.
