Quammie, Guy cement Rock Hard doubles tennis title

The pair of Akeismo Quammie and Akeem Guy mortared their way to the Rock Hard Cement Mixed Doubles title last Sunday at the Grand View Hotel tennis court.

Quammie and Guy beat the father and son combination of Grant and Rio Connell in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, in the final.

Last Sunday’s final was played in two parts, as the fading light aborted the second set, when the match began last Thursday.

The winners got $500, with the runners-up, the Connells, earning $250. The tournament was organized by the Grassroot Tennis Club.

Set to launch soon is a mixed doubles tournament, also an undertaking of the club, to be staged at the same Grand View Hotel venue.
