Quarter-finalists in Greiggs Softball Cricket Competition known

The quarter-finals list in the SVG Brewery/FLOW/Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem Greiggs 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition has been completed.

The last four came through last weekend with the completion of the round of 16 at the Greiggs Central Playing Field.

Added to the lot were Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Owia Young Strikers, Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz and Bruce Law Chambers Smashers Inc.

Rain, though, had a say in all matches.

On Saturday, Nar Fren Dem overpowered Challengers by 86 runs.

Shemroy Ellis, with a top score of 59, pushed Nar Fren Dem to 178 for 4 declared from 13.4 overs. Kimon John was Challengers’ best bowler, taking 2 for 56.

Challengers then succumbed for 82 in 12.5 overs. Andre Bacchus picked off 3 for 10. Ezra Jacobs was Challengers’ lead scorer, making 24.

Then, Sunday morning, defending champions Owia Young Strikers made light work of Fully Loaded.

Batting first, Fully Loaded crashed to 21 all out in 8.5 overs, in a 10-over per side match, shortened because of rain.

Davidson Lavia slammed 25 not out to see Owia Young Strikers to 27 for no loss in just eight balls.

Meanwhile, Simple Boyz’ advancement came at the expense of Bank of SVG All Starz.

Planned for 17 overs each, All Starz were dismissed for 71 from 16.3 overs, undone by Kenny Hunte’s 4 for 18 and Kentish Phillips’ 3 for 15.

Simple Boyz laboured to 74 for 9, also off 16.3 overs, to win by one wicket.  Kelly Murray scalped 4 for 24, bowling for All Starz.

And, on a faster scoring rate, was the route which saw Smashers Inc trumping over RSVG Police.

Smashers reached 100 for 7 from the 17 overs allotted them because of rain, with Zeron Harry scoring 25 not out.

Bowling for RSVG Police, Malcovin Jack had 2 for 8 and Demeris Daniel took 2 for 29.

From 8.3 overs, RSVG Police were 32 for 7 when rain soaked the venue, thus ending the match. Kayneil Richards had grabbed 3 for 15.

At the corresponding 8 overs, Smashers had put on 41.
