SVGCC heads to Sir Garfield Sobers schools’ cricket festival again

The French Verandah SVG Community College cricket team will partici- pate in the 2017 edition of the Sir Garfield Sobers International schools’ tournament to take place in Barbados from July 9 to 24.

 The 15-man squad will be led by the SVG Under-19 cricket captain Jeremy Layne, along with vice-captain Ronaldo Franklyn. 

 The unit on tour will also include national under-19 players Urnel Thomas, Tilron Harry, Rayon Williams, Jerremy Haywood and Rayshorn John. 

Alex Samuel, Romando Browne, Randall Roberts, Zivon Walker, Gregory Wyllie, Zidan Sutherland, Donte Hinson and Aleon Caesar complete the 15-member squad.

The team officials for the tournament include Roxell John, sports coordinator at the SVG Community College, who will be the team manager/coach, with Kody Horne the team’s assistant manager. Kashaka Bulze will complete the tour party as the team’s trainer.  

This is the second year the French Verandah SVG Community College will participate in the tournament, having placed fifth in the 16-team competition in 2016.
