Vincentian athletes check in on US circuit weekend

Vincentian athletes attending US colleges and universities weathered the temperatures last weekend to again register good performances.

Shaffiqua Maloney, representing Southern Illinois University, won the 400 metres female event at the Kansas Relay. Maloney recorded a time of 54.97 seconds.

Meanwhile, Soreyna Miller, representing Benedict College, added another of her improvements with a personal best of 57.46 seconds at the University of South Carolina Invitational Meet.

At the Morgan State Legacy Track Meet, Nicklene McLean finished 9th in the hammer event with a throw of 42.29 metres, while at the same meet Rogike Thorpe recorded 11.26 and Kailon Kirby 50.13 in the 100m and 400m races

respectively.

Thorpe and Kirby represent New York’s Kingsborough Community College.

And, at the Red River Athletics Championships, Kimorie Shearman finished third in the men’s 400m, with a clocking of 48.96 seconds.

Shearman was also part of his Wiley College’s

winning 4 x 400 metres relay team.
