High Park United crowned queens of Richland Park Netball Competition

Star-studded High Park United strolled to an unperturbed hold of the 2017 Vita Malt/GECCU Richland Park Netball Competition, when the final was contested last Sunday at the Richland Park Government School hard court.

Led by ace shooter, the evergreen Skiddy Francis–Crick, who registered all 72 goals from 78 tries, High Park United romped to a 72-37 triumph over JG Scorchers.

For Scorchers, Khadija Williams had 30 of her 39 tries counted, while Kimesha Antoine had 7 of her 9 tallied.

High Park United had dominated from the get go, taking the first three quarters 20-11, 38-21 and 60-25, before closing out the final.

It was another successful day for High Park United, who had dispatched Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, 77-33 in the semi-finals. Also on Saturday, Scorchers confirmed their berth in the final, defeating Young Strugglers 63-52.
 

Young Strugglers then prevailed over Nar Fren Dem in Sunday’s third place play-off.

The distribution of cash awards saw High Park United pocketing $1,500; Scorchers – $1,000 and Young Strugglers – $700.

The three teams also received trophies.
 
Skiddy Francis-Crick was awarded Top Goal Scorer and Anella Samuel of High Park United – Most Valuable Player of the competition.

Adjudged the Most Disciplined Team were Youngsters.

Eight teams contested this year’s edition, which did not see the participation of 2016 winners, LP Combined.
