Mets took first strike, but were undone for 92 in their allotted 20 overs. Richie Rampaul and Ephraim Bacchus both took three wickets apiece, bowling for Cavaliers.

Cavaliers replied with 94 for 3. Current St Vincent and the Grenadines fast bowler- Dawnley Grant top scored with 24.

Speaking at a short ceremony held following the match, vice-president of the Montreal Mets Phillip Gabriel, on behalf of his 20 strong contingent who made the journey across to New York, said, “It’s always nice when we come; it’s a very joyful and jovial time at the game and the hospitality was great…. It’s like a brother and sister weekend,” Gabriel said.

President of Cavaliers Casmas Bailey, speaking about the weekend event, expressed his appreciation to all for their assistance.

“It was a job well done…. It was a fantastic one; everything went well. In the past we had bad weather and were not able to play the match; this year we were able to play and we had a great game,” Bailey said.

Apart from the cricket match, the previous day, Saturday, there was a meet and greet session involving members of both teams and other well-wishers.

The visit of the Vincy-Canadian outfit which is in its third year, originated from the host team’s annual memorial weekend tour to Montreal.

Cavaliers make the reciprocal visit this weekend, a venture they have been engaged in for the last 40 years.(RT)
