Facing up to arch-rivals Layou, Barrouallie had it all their way for most of the match and enjoyed a three-nil lead deep into the encounter.

Kyle Edwards opened Barrouallie’s account in the 12th minute. Oalex Anderson added two items in the 34th and 55th minutes, to leave his team holding on to the steering wheel in the driver’s seat.

However, Barrouallie made some changes in personnel, thus easing their feet off the pedal, and gave Layou that glimmer of hope.

Dennis Prescott took advantage of some sloppy defending to slot home the ball in the 74th minute.

He then added a second from the penalty spot in the 77th minute, but Barrouallie held on to win 3-2.

In getting to the final, Barrouallie defeated West Kingstown 3-0. Oalex Anderson struck twice and Kyle Edwards the other.

On the other hand, Layou edged out South Leeward one nil. The lone goal scorer for Layou was Dennis Prescott.

South Leeward, on Friday night, preceding the Barrouallie versus Layou final, moved on to take the third place.

A goal each from Rolando Maxwell in the 26th minute, Jarrel Mc Master in the 46th minute and Nyron Delpesche in the 56th minute, ensured South Leeward’s 3-1 triumph.

West Kingstown’s goal came from Mazique Herbert in the 39th minute.

Changed to an Under-18 format this year, Barrouallie took the reins of the 2012 and 2013 titles, then contested as Under-17 competitions.

Similarly, the Barrouallie senior outfit has won the 2012 and 2013 editions of the National Inter-Community League Championships. (RT)
