Inter-Ministerial Sports and Games 2014
After a seven-year absence, the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture will be holding the Inter-Ministerial Sports and Games 2014.{{more}}
The Games will be staged over a six-month period, with a number of different activities being done on the various hard courts and playing fields in Kingstown and the surrounding areas.
They are as follows: March 24 – 28 â table tennis will be played at the St Vincent Boys’ Grammar School Hall; April 4-5,11-12, Street 20 cricket competition (venue to be decided); May 9-10, 16-17, football competition (soccer) (venue to be decided) June 6-7, 13-14 netball competition (venue to be decided); September 5- 6 pedro competition (venue to be decided); September 12-13 dominoes competition (venue to be decided); October 1st rounders competition (venue to be decided); October 8th tug-o-war competition (venue to be decided); October 22nd â Fun Day, which will include Ministersâ race, Permanent Secretaries’ Race, Lime and spoon Race, Bean Bag Race, Sack Race, Needle and Thread Race, Drunking Man’s Race and much more â at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
The objective of the games is to create a more cohesive civil service and to develop camaraderie among workers. All activities will be done in the spirit of good sportmanship and fun. The Games are also a part of the “SPORTS 36 INITIATIVE,” which is being planned by the Ministry: the launching of 36 different sporting activities in 36 months.
