Three Vincentians hold top spots in OECS individual squash rankings

Jules Snagg is new male senior squash champion in the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).{{more}}

In an all-Vincentian final, in the tournament held in St Lucia from May 16 to 19, Snagg defeated his former coach James Bentick in five sets, 3-2 (10-12/11-5/9-11/11-4/11-7).

In getting to the finals, Vincentians occupied three of the four semi-final spots. Jules Snagg defeated Charlie Sonson of St Lucia and James Bentick defeated Kevin Bailey to set up the all Vincy final.

St Vincent’s top female player Amber Glasgow took out St Lucia’s no 1 female in another much anticipated match up. Glasgow won 3-1 (9-11/11-1/11-9/11-9) to take the female title.

James Bentick easily defeated Charlie Sonson of St Lucia to take the OECS Mens 40+ title 3-0 (11-2/11-9/11-5). Keith Boyea had to play five sets to prevent the OECS Mens 50+ title from going to the BVI via Winston Findlay. Boyea won 3-2 (11-2/11-7/1-11/5-11/11-6).

The OECS individual rankings for 2013 show SVG holding the top three male spots in Bentick (3rd), Bailey (2nd), Snagg (1st).

Top men’s 40+ is Bentick and top female is Amber Glasgow. Keith Boyea holds the second spot in the men’s 50+.
