WSG Primary School Cricket welcomes first century

The inaugural Kentucky Fried Chicken West St George Primary School Under-15 Twenty/20 Cricket Knock-Out Competition welcomed its first century last Wednesday at the Belair Playing Field.

Inking his name in the competition’s history pages was the Coreas/ Hazells Inc Gomea Methodist Primary School batsman, Delshon Welcome, who blasted 127.

The right-handed Welcome, who came in at number three, was severe on the First Caribbean International Bank Sion Hill Primary School bowling, thumping 8 fours and 15 sixes.

Welcome’s knock powered his team to 182 all out in 18.2 overs.

Sion Hill Primary’s best bowlers were Brian Alexander with 3 for 16. Brian Hannibald, Zorro Mofford and Trevorn Williams captured two wickets each.

In reply, Sion Hill was dismissed 107 in 15.3-overs; Brian Hannibald hit 25 and David Williams made 15.

Bowling for the Gomea Methodist, Chris Payne took 4 for 24 and Roneil Tash 2 for 15.

Their efforts followed that of Welcome, which saw Gomea in the end romping to a 75-run triumph and remaining unbeaten in the competition, having won the league format, which preceded the Knock Out. (RT)
