SVGAA holds first Fun Drive for 2012

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Automobile Association held its first Fun Drive for 2012 on Sunday, February 19, 2012.{{more}}

The event was well supported, with a wide range of vehicles entered. Both seasoned veterans and first time drivers and navigators participated on a demanding and complex course.

The course took them on roads throughout the south of St. Vincent and up through Evesham and Richland Park, with their fantastic views across the Mesopotamia valley.

To add a little spice to the drive, points were awarded from 12 different checkpoints along the route, with the direction from which the vehicle approaches the checkpoint, and heavy penalties should the competitors arrive earlier than a calculated time.

When the points were tallied at the end of day: the Winners were Kasanta Alexander and Collin Alexander with 13,900 penalty points.

Second Place Nishka Stuart and Devon Daniels with 14,850 penalty points

Third Place Lorenzo Barbour and Samantha Barbour with 15,700 penalty points

The SVGAA thanks Osbourne Browne of the National Sports Council for the use of the facilities at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, and Carib Beer for their ongoing sponsorship.

The SVGAA also thanks all of the competitors, marshalls and officials who made sure that the event was successful and fun.

The SVGAA looks forward to holding a similar Fun Drive later on in the year and we are also pleased to announce we are next scheduled to hold a competitive event on March 4, 2012. Details of the events start time and location will be released pending approval from the relevant authorities.
