Vincy New York Sports Awards – a success


Vincentian sports personalities were recognized for their performances during the 2009 recently completed Netball, Cricket and Soccer tournaments last Saturday night, October 24, at the Café Omar in Brooklyn, New York.{{more}}

To a full house, Earl ‘Ole George’ Daniel received a plaque of recognition for his various efforts of walking days without sleep.

Ansonia Browne of United, Patrick Baker of Islanders, Jacintha Adams of Team SVG and Antillians were the recipients of the Netball awards.

In the Cricket category, Cameron Cuffy of Cavaliers, Colville Browne of Imperial, Nicholas Peters of Stars and Dominic Audain of Middlesex were the winners.

Renson Haynes of Antillians, Kendal Llewellyn of Stingers and Orande ‘Man Kemmy’ Christopher of Chatex took the Soccer awardees.

Multiple winners in Soccer were Marcus Williams, who showed that he is indeed a star, took the trophies for his teams Superstars, Rangers and Team SVG, while Seinard Bowers displayed that he is an up and coming star and took the trophies for Future Stars and Baga United.

The night was not just about awards, and patrons partied into the wee hours of the morning to artistes Bomani, Poorsah, Fryktion, Fafa, Browser, Stryker, and Inspector out of Grenada.

Promoter Junior ‘Soca’ Jones said he was satisfied with the show as “the performers were outstanding and the patrons had a very enjoyable night.”
