Second title for Grant this year

Deron Grant seeded number one captured his second title for the year in the just concluded SVG General Services Presidents invitational tournament held at the National Tennis Centre Villa.

Grant defeated Kirk Dasilva, who was seeded eight, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3 in a closely and hard fought match on Monday December 11.

The players received cash prizes of $800 for the winner and $500 for the runner-up.{{more}}

The semi-finalists will receive $150 each.

Leroy Edwards, of SVG General Services, promised continued support for the development of the sport and the growth of the rural development programs which are presently in place to unearth the talent which is known to exist in these areas. He said the tournament next year would be extended to include the top 16 women and promised that it would be bigger and better.

The finals which were scheduled to be completed on Saturday were rescheduled because of rain. The tournament attracted 32 of the top players in St Vincent.
