Pay tribute to our unsung heroes, too

It can also serve as an occasion for reflection on all of those who have worked diligently and selflessly to move the nation forward. Very often there are those who tend to focus only on the people and /or institutions in the capital city of Kingstown when thinking of contributions to and recognition for national development.
Indeed, other citizens are valiantly making tremendous contributions in different communities in the nation without regard for recognition, whether it be individually, through the schools, churches, or other civic organizations. This year I want to focus on the youth and all who are taking the time and using their energies to inculcate sound values in them. This is very important as the future lies in the hands of the youth.
I want to mention and thank all of the primary schools, and in particular, the Calliaqua Anglican School, recently named the Most Disciplined School in the Primary Schoolsâ Performing Arts Festival (PRISPAF) 2012. Congratulations.
The present Headteacher, Ms. Yvette Antoine, is a responsible, dynamic visionary, and I want to commend her and all of the teachers and support staff at that school which has produced so many successful citizens in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and beyond. The legacy of achievement is impressive, and we love and thank all of those who have contributed to this rich history.
The contributions to the nurturing of the youth of St Vincent and the Grenadines from all communities and segments of society are of paramount importance to the development of the nation. From the youth of today will come future national heroes.
