VINLEC is hosting the Retiree Appreciation Day as a show of appreciation to the retirees for their contribution to the company and to the country. The event provides an opportunity for retirees to interact with both former colleagues and current employees and also to share knowledge.

“VINLEC believes that there is value to be derived from maintaining contact with retirees and involves the former employees in social activities organized by the company including the Family Fun Day and Awards Ceremony. Employees from the company also make social visits to the retirees on birthdays and make presentations of gift baskets on these occasions,” a release from the company said.

On Bequia, the retirees will have a bus tour of the island and lunch in the area of Lower Bay. There will also be a focus on health and nutrition as nurses and health care personnel will be on hand to provide information and foot care services.

This is the fourth year that VINLEC is hosting Retiree Appreciation Day. The previous outings have been spread across the Leeward and Windward coasts, with stops at various power stations, as well as in the interior of mainland St Vincent.

This year close to 50 retirees, accompanied by spouses and family members, are expected to make the journey to Bequia, the release said.
