The activity was done in accordance with the World Health Organisation’s Framework on Tobacco Control, and it seeks to curtail smoking in public places, prohibit tobacco advertising, promote and sponsor and set standards for the packaging and labeling of tobacco products, while restricting sale to and by minors.

The working session was coordinated by the Chief Health Educator and staff in the Health Promotion Unit within the Ministry and was convened in the conference room of the Services Commission Department.

The WHO Framework Convention on tobacco control is the first Treaty negotiated under the auspices of the World Health Organisation, and it was ratified by St. Vincent and the Grenadines in October, 2010.
