Bridal Fair showcases local fashion designers

Marriage is one of the most important events in a person’s life, but it is well-known that planning the wedding can be chaotic.

Enter SVG Dream Weddings. Thanks to Debbie Barbour organizer of the event, the first ever National Bridal Fair will be held on July 15 to showcase goods and services needed to make that momentous occasion the perfect day it should be.{{more}}

Barbour, who has teamed up with the Ministry of Tourism, the Image Modeling Agency, hoteliers and other businesses providing wedding-related services, will showcase the best of what this country has to offer at the Cruise Ship Terminal, in the form of a fair and fashion event.

In an interview with the Searchlight Newspaper, Barbour noted that the fair will run from 10 am-4pm, followed by a break, then the actual fashion show put on by the Image Modeling Agency from 5 to 6pm.

Barbour, a wedding gown designer and planner who has more than 15 years experience in the United Kingdom, believes that every couple wants their wedding to be unique but sometimes they have no clue where to go and how to get started.

She noted that this event will not only give local persons the opportunity to see what this country had to offer but visitors as well.

The designer explained, “While we have so many people here for Vincy Carnival, this will be a great opportunity to showcase our country as a destination for weddings. Already I have been getting calls from other countries in the region who want to be part of it, but for now this will be a time for us as Vincentians to put forward what we have to offer.”

She expounded, “We don’t realise the potential we have with the picturesque landscape of the mountains, you can’t beat St.Vincent and the Grenadines with its sheer beauty. I would really love to see SVG excel as a top-notch wedding destination and I know that this will happen if we come together.”

She noted that the event which is “fabulously planned” will kick off with newly- crowned Miss SVG 2006, Sheridan Lewis, stepping out from a limousine in a bridal gown.

Tickets for the show can be bought at Singer, Tash Jewelry, Barnet Hair Fashion, or by contacting Debbie Barbour at 532-7203.
