SVG U-14 male footballers take CFU challenge shield

St Vincent and the Grenadines won Group A of the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) male Under-14 challenge football championships which concluded last Sunday at Warner Park in St Kitts.

The Vincentian lads completed an unbeaten run by thrashing Antigua and Barbuda 4-0 in their final encounter on Sunday. Kranje Alexander hit a brace for the Vincentians and there was a goal apiece from Oryan Velox and Saviola Blake.

Oryan Velox scored four goals for SVG

The Vincy lads had set out modestly on the pathway to glory with a 2-2 draw against Dominica in their opening encounter. Oryan Velox netted both goals. They followed with victories over St Kitts and Nevis, 2-0 with Velox, again, and Davids Holder the goal scorers, and then one-nil (Alexander scoring), over Montserrat.

By virtue of winning the group, St Vincent and the Grenadines will earn a higher ranking at the CONCACAF male U-15 championships, set for August 2019 in Florida, USA.

The victorious squad was comprised of : Garwin Davis, Dakarai Hector, Uroy Ryan, Davids Holder, Nellie Ambriton, Raysean Matthias, Zalpheus Medica, Figo Thomas, Kranje Alexander, Renson Sayers, Saviola Blake, Shemron Phillips, Kirtney Franklin, Shaquan Dopwell, Oryan Velox, Jequan Adams, Amron Thomas and Ronaldo Adams.

Bishon Williams was the team’s head coach, with Carlton Dennie- assistant coach and Ronnell Hunte the goalkeeper coach.

Krange Alexander netted three of SVG’s goals

Manager of the team was Debson Cruickshank with Yosiah Dascent the national Football Federation’s representative on the sojourn.

The team returned last Monday minus seven players who went on to St Lucia to represent System Three Sports Academy at the Hamilton Lashley Foundation Youth football tournament.
