Four charged in burglary at General Hardware Supplies

Four men appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, charged jointly with burglarizing a local hardware store and stealing its vault, cash and other items, with a total value of over $111,000.

Ken Wilson, a 21-year-old mechanic of Redemption Sharpes, Kewanie {{more}}Williams, a 21-year-old welder of Green Hill, Caswell Weekes, a 36-year-old farmer of Hopewell and Leon Jack of Campden Park were arrested and jointly charged last Thursday, with burglarizing General Hardware Supplies and stealing one vault, valued at EC$23,000, containing cheques, jewelry and cash with a total value of EC$88,864, the property of General Hardware Supplies, stolen at Arnos Vale, between September 13 and 14.

Chief magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias ordered that the men be further remanded for seven days, pending the outcome of police investigations.

Bail for the four accused will be considered when they re-appear in court on September 29. (AS)
