US Marshals arrive with four shackled Vincentian deportees

Four Vincentians deported from the United States were brought back to St Vincent and the Grenadines last Friday, in the custody of United States Marshals.

According to reports, the men, wearing shackles, arrived on board a Gulf Stream jet, which landed at Canouan.{{more}}

The deported men are said to have been sent packing from the United States for committing a range of offences to do with drugs, identity theft, battery and overstaying.

When contacted yesterday, Commissioner of Police Michael Charles said he was informed on Friday by the Canouan police that US Marshals had arrived here, bringing with them four persons.

Charles, however, could not confirm certain details about the deportees to SEARCHLIGHT.

“That document still has to come up. I can’t really recall the names, because I don’t have the documents with me. The report is en route from Canouan,” he stated.

The Commissioner, however, said when an individual is deported, that person has to be interviewed by the police. (KW)
