Two months to pay or two years for Lenny Harry

Harry, a resident of Lowmans Leeward, was hauled before the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to possession of 11,350 grams (25 pounds) of cannabis and cultivating 25 cured marijuana plants.
Harry was jointly charged with Winston Small and Kerwin Henson, both of the same address. They pleaded not guilty to the charges and the matters against them were dropped.
Information reaching the court was that on Friday, January 20, at about 8:30 am, Rapid Response Unit (RRU) personnel were on foot patrol in the Lowmans mountains, when they came upon a hut with three men and the marijuana.
Harryâs attorney, Arthur Williams, told he court that his client is a fisherman who is experiencing hardships on the seas right now.
âHe just tried something else Your Worship…,â Williams indicated.
He also said his client did not waste the courtâs time and pleaded guilty. âIf he did not own the drug, the prosecution would have had a problem of proving whose drug it was,â said Williams.
On the cultivation charge, Harry was also fined $500, to be paid in one month or six months in jail.
