Slow day in Court

On the Wednesday after Carnival, one would tend to see the courtrooms spilling over with persons arrested for different offences committed over the long weekend. This, however, was not the case earlier this week.{{more}}

A mere handful of new arrests was present at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday. In fact, there were just five new arrests in total, with some of the older matters being adjourned to later dates.

In a press conference later that day, Commissioner of Police Keith Miller noted that it was the strong police presence in Kingstown over the season that deferred criminals and criminal activity.

The few persons who were brought before the Kingstown Magistrates Court had to answer only to minor charges such as marijuana possession, among others.
