SVG Association of Winnipeg donates meals to four shelters

Thanks to the generous donations of Vincentians and friends in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Winnipeg Inc was able to donate approximately $EC10,000 to evacuees in four shelters across St Vincent. The organisation said in a release that each of the four shelters received meals two or three days (dinners or lunches) with a total of 10 days of meals provided. Two hundred persons were served with 400 meals in phase one of relief efforts made possible through the assistance of four caterers.

The meals were provided to evacuees at the Cane End Government School catered by Shermyn Shallow; the Lowman’s Anglican Primary School catered by Clare Jacobs; the Gomea Methodist School catered by ‘Papa’s Food Spot’ caterer Nimrod Providence; and the Evesham Methodist School by ‘Nic’s Cakes & Catering’ catered by Shelise ‘Nicole’ Browne.

All centers expressed gratitude both from evacuees and shelter managers who indicated their appreciation to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Winnipeg Inc. and its members for choosing their shelter and for assisting in meeting dietary concerns where necessary.

The executive members of the Association are President Arlene Green, Vice President Charles Henry, Treasurer/Secretary DeCris Providence, Chair of Women’s Committee Angela Cupid, Public Relations Officer Margaret Lewis-John, Outreach Co-ordinator John Jack and Immediate Past President Dennis Cupid.

The Association will continue its fund-raising efforts in Winnipeg to embark on Phase two of its support to the restoration efforts in the Red Zone.
